Frequently Asked Questions

Communities for Quality Education, a national education advocacy group, seeks to build a partnership between people inside and outside the education community who share the common goal of building better public schools for every child. Our immediate focus is working with groups and individuals who share our concerns about the so-called No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law and how it is being implemented. Our long-term goal is to have a much broader dialogue about the continuing public policy agenda for public schools.

Q. WHY IS THIS ORGANIZATION NEEDED?

A. We haven't found any organization out there that's trying to bridge the gap between people inside and outside the education community who share a common concern about the direction of public education. Teachers and other school employees clearly see the need to reach out beyond the education community to those who are doing good work for education. We are finding a lot of other people around the country who share the desire for a new partnership and dialogue on public education.

We will be connecting our efforts and resources with many community-based groups throughout the country.

Q. HOW WILL COMMUNITIES FOR QUALITY EDUCATION BE FUNDED?

A. We're building our fundraising base with the help of individuals and organizations that share our goals and our priorities.

Q. WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO REACH?

A. First, and foremost, we're reaching out to the millions of Americans with school-age children. We plan to also engage policymakers at all levels. Our activities will be conducted through a series of state and local campaigns involving community leaders, teachers, parents, students and others who want to develop a new direction for public education. We seek to have a broad conversation about the importance of public schools.
